THE GREATER VANCOUVER FOOD BANK SOCIETY  (GVFBS)

The Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society (GVFBS) is a non-profit organization with a mission to empower people to nourish themselves by providing access to healthy food, education and training. The GVFBS provides assistance to over 28,000 people weekly through 15 food depots and over 100 community agencies located in Vancouver, Burnaby, New Westminster and North Vancouver. The GVFBS is committed to its vision of accessible, healthy and sustainable food for all and through community collaboration, is pro-actively working to help end hunger.
 
ARTS UMBRELLA
Inspiring Kids for Life Through the Arts! Arts Umbrella is a not-for-profit arts education centre for children and youth ages 2-19. Arts Umbrella is committed to delivering the highest quality visual and performing arts education to young people, regardless of their socio-economic circumstances. Since its inception in 1979, Arts Umbrella has maintained a trail-blazing, forward-looking and community-focused spirit. It has grown consistently and now reaches more than 21,500 children and youth annually through tuition-based and free-of-charge outreach programs.
 
THE BRITISH COLUMBIA SOCIETY FOR THE PREVENTION OF CRUELTY TO ANIMALS
The BC SPCA has been protecting and caring for animals for over 100 years. Their mission is to protect and enhance the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in B.C.. The BC SPCA has developed a set of Model Animal Control Bylaws to help municipal governments address community animal control and welfare issues such as dangerous dogs, exotic species control, licensing of breeders and pet stores, and pet overpopulation.

VIRUNGA NATIONAL PARK

Virunga National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, it is Africa’s oldest national park and is also the continent’s most biologically diverse protected area. Virunga is home to about a quarter of the world’s critically endangered mountain gorillas. The park’s two other Great Ape species, eastern lowland Grauer’s gorillas and chimpanzees. Large colonies of hippopotami, forest and savanna elephants, lions, and rare birds can also be found in Virunga.
